    Wednesday Night

We made our way north and then east. Emily and I, limited by time constraints, got 43 miles in.  Jay and Ari continued to Campton Hills mixing the Great Western Trail, gravel roads and pavement. I am curious about their mileage and route. Hey Ari post the route!

The ride to the Dekalb County courthouse was mostly on trails. Old State Rd. east takes you into the interior of Kane Co. Please disregard the diagonal line – first gen GPS.

    Short Spin to Buy Coffee

Went to Duck Soup Coop to buy some coffee last night. Despite the clouds the weather was somewhat pleasant.

    Retrieving Ari

Ari rode to Galena on Sunday. Seven hours thirty five minutes to cover 125 miles – good time considering a cross wind and then head wind.

    Sunday Gravel

Mostly sunny and 47 degrees was a rather hopeful prediction. 28 degrees mostly cloudy when we started and 32 degrees at the end. 40 miles –  west on Twombly Rd., Rte. 251 south through Rochelle and east on Malta Rd.  We sought out gravel because Ari is preparing for Trans Iowa.

It is so good to get out and ride with people. The roads around where we live can become desolate when alone. I am thankful for my little Sony MP3 player. I have to download some new music on it since some stuff is getting really old. The route we did was good and those gravel sections were much needed.

Good times Rich. We should hang out more often. The park was fun, the rat ride rules with the USSR special edition wheels and todays ride rocked. I really dig the cd you burned for us.
      thanks,
      Ari

You bet Ari. Though I prefer CCCP – and the Rapha logo sort of resembles a hammer and sickle.

    Raymond Park Instant Cyclocross

    B34 008

Ari researched the potential of a cyclocross track at Raymond Park, the tiniest park in Dekalb if not the northern hemisphere.

I am guessing 148 laps in 60 minutes. Add stadium seating there will be mass appeal.

    Mellow Night Ride

    Rich Rd, adn Nelson Rd.

    Rich Rd. and Nelson Rd.

The sunset was but a sliver of orange at 7:30 pm. Pedaled Taylor Rd. west to Nelson Rd. Then north to Rich Rd.  Cars were few, a welcome change from the morning hours. Connected with Hopkins Trail off of First St. No one on the trail until NIU. Be careful around NIU around 8:30 pm. Classes are ending and students are making a quick exit.
